Earlier today, the Dynamax phenomenon was officially announced by Niantic. While exact details of the inner workings of this new feature have not been shared yet, it seems that trainers will be able to catch Pokémon able to Dynamax from Max Battles accessible from Power Spots. Trainers will be required to collect Max Particles from Power Spots in order to join a Max Battle. Only Pokémon obtained in this manner will be able to Dynamax.
To celebrate the new feature launch, the “GO Big” event will be held in Pokémon Go from Tuesday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet and Wooloo will be the first Pokémon available in one-star Max Battles. Lucky trainers will be able to catch a shiny Dynamax Pokémon! These Pokémon will also be available from Field Research Task Encounters, although they won’t be able to Dynamax.
The second part of the seasonal Special Research will also unlock, awarding trainers with a Dynamax Band item for their avatar after completing tasks revolving around Max Battles and Particles. 2× XP for winning a Max Battle and 2× XP for spinning PokéStops will be rewarded during the GO Big event. In addition, a Max Particle Pack Bundle containing 4,800 Max Particles will be for sale on the official Webstore for a price of $7.99, or the equivalent in your country.
The event is a part of a three-stage celebration: “GO All Out”, prominently featuring new Galar Pokémon, “GO Big”, revolving around the debut of Dynamax Pokémon, and “GO Wild”, yet to be announced.
